ARISTHA: Ar-Risalah Journal of Islamic Tourism and Hospitality
Publisher: Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam (STAI) Ar-Risalah Sumatera Barat, Indonesia
ARISTHA: Ar-Risalah Journal of Islamic Tourism and Hospitality is committed to promoting open access to scholarly knowledge while respecting authors' intellectual property rights, academic attribution, and responsible reuse of published materials.
This policy establishes the copyright ownership, publication rights, licensing conditions, and reuse permissions applicable to articles published by ARISTHA.
The policy is intended to support the accessibility, visibility, dissemination, and long-term scholarly use of research in Islamic tourism, halal tourism, religious tourism, hospitality management, sharia tourism law, and related interdisciplinary fields.
Authors retain copyright in their original scholarly works published in ARISTHA.
Publication in the journal does not transfer copyright ownership from the authors to the journal or publisher.
Authors remain the copyright holders of their articles, subject to any applicable rights held by third parties in materials incorporated into the published work.
By submitting a manuscript for publication, authors agree to provide the journal with the rights necessary to evaluate, edit, publish, disseminate, and preserve the accepted work in accordance with the journal's publication agreement and applicable policies.
Upon acceptance for publication, authors grant ARISTHA the non-exclusive right of first publication of the accepted article.
This authorization permits the journal to publish the article as part of its official scholarly publication and to identify ARISTHA as the original publication venue.
The publication agreement does not prevent authors from retaining copyright or exercising the reuse rights permitted under the applicable Creative Commons license.
The journal may reproduce and distribute the published version for legitimate editorial, scholarly dissemination, indexing, and preservation purposes.
ARISTHA adopts an open-access publishing approach intended to make scholarly articles freely available to readers without subscription barriers.
Published articles may be accessed, read, downloaded, copied, distributed, and reused in accordance with the applicable license terms.
The journal supports the principle that accessible scholarly communication can contribute to research development, education, policy formulation, professional practice, and the wider dissemination of academic knowledge.
Open access does not eliminate the requirement to acknowledge authorship, respect applicable licenses, or comply with relevant intellectual property laws.
Articles published by ARISTHA are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), unless a different license is explicitly stated for particular material.
Under CC BY 4.0, users may:
Share: Copy and redistribute the licensed material in any medium or format.
Adapt: Remix, transform, translate, and build upon the licensed material for any purpose, including commercial purposes.
These permissions are subject to the conditions of the license, including appropriate attribution.
The official license terms are available at:
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
Users who reproduce, distribute, adapt, or otherwise reuse material licensed under CC BY 4.0 must provide appropriate attribution.
Attribution should include, where reasonably practicable:
The name of the author or authors.
The title of the original article.
The name of the journal, ARISTHA: Ar-Risalah Journal of Islamic Tourism and Hospitality.
A citation or link to the original publication.
A reference or link to the applicable Creative Commons license.
An indication of whether changes have been made.
Attribution must not suggest that the original authors, journal, or publisher endorse the reuse unless such endorsement has been expressly authorized.
Authors retain the right to reuse their published work in accordance with the applicable license and any relevant third-party rights.
Permitted activities may include:
Sharing the published article through personal or institutional websites.
Depositing the article in institutional or subject repositories.
Including the article in academic teaching materials.
Reusing portions of the article in subsequent scholarly work with appropriate acknowledgment.
Distributing the article for educational and research purposes.
Preparing translations or adaptations while identifying the original publication and any modifications.
Authors are encouraged to provide a citation or link to the version of record published by ARISTHA.
ARISTHA permits authors to deposit and share their manuscripts through appropriate repositories, subject to applicable rights and disclosure requirements.
Authors may share:
Preprints: Manuscript versions made available before peer review.
Accepted manuscripts: Versions accepted after peer review but before final journal production.
Published versions: Final articles published by ARISTHA, in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons license.
Authors should clearly identify the manuscript version and, once available, provide a reference or link to the final published article.
Prior dissemination through a preprint server or repository should be disclosed to the editorial office where relevant to the journal's assessment of originality and prior publication.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that third-party materials included in their manuscripts are used lawfully and appropriately.
Such materials may include:
Photographs and illustrations.
Maps and tourism destination images.
Tables, diagrams, and figures.
Survey instruments or questionnaires.
Extended quotations.
Previously published datasets.
Other copyrighted research or educational materials.
Authors must obtain permission when required and provide accurate attribution.
Third-party material is not automatically covered by the article's CC BY 4.0 license when the rights holder has not authorized that licensing.
Any exceptions or separate licensing conditions should be clearly identified in the article.
Original figures, illustrations, and other scholarly materials created by the authors may be distributed under the article's applicable license when the authors possess the necessary rights.
Research data may be subject to separate ethical, contractual, privacy, institutional, or licensing requirements.
The publication of an article does not automatically authorize unrestricted disclosure or reuse of confidential, sensitive, or protected research data.
Authors must distinguish between materials that can be openly licensed and materials subject to separate restrictions.
Authors remain responsible for ensuring that AI-assisted text, images, tables, code, and other content included in their manuscripts comply with applicable copyright and intellectual property requirements.
The use of generative AI does not automatically establish copyright ownership or guarantee that generated material is free from third-party rights.
Substantive use of generative AI must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's Generative AI (GenAI) Policy.
Authors must verify that AI-assisted content is accurate, appropriately attributed, and suitable for publication.
By submitting a manuscript to ARISTHA, authors represent that, to the best of their knowledge:
The manuscript is their original scholarly work or appropriately identifies the contributions of others.
All relevant sources are accurately acknowledged.
The manuscript does not knowingly infringe the intellectual property rights of third parties.
Required permissions have been obtained.
The manuscript is not under simultaneous consideration by another journal.
All listed authors have approved the submission and relevant publication arrangements.
Any substantial overlap with previous dissemination has been disclosed.
Applicable ethical and legal requirements have been observed.
Authors are responsible for responding to credible questions concerning copyright ownership, permissions, and scholarly attribution.
ARISTHA and its publisher are responsible for communicating the journal's copyright and licensing arrangements transparently.
The journal should:
Display the applicable license on published articles.
Identify the authors as copyright holders where appropriate.
Provide access to the official license terms.
Maintain consistency between the published article, journal policies, and OJS licensing settings.
Address credible copyright complaints through appropriate editorial procedures.
Avoid claiming ownership of rights that have not been transferred to the journal.
The publisher supports the responsible dissemination and preservation of scholarly work while respecting authors' intellectual property rights.
Concerns regarding copyright infringement, unauthorized reproduction, improper attribution, or disputed ownership may be submitted to the journal through its official editorial communication channels.
Reports should identify the relevant publication and explain the alleged rights issue, preferably with supporting documentation.
The editorial team should assess the concern fairly and may request clarification from the authors, complainant, or other relevant parties.
Appropriate actions may include:
Correcting attribution or licensing information.
Requesting proof of permission.
Replacing or removing specific infringing materials when justified.
Publishing a correction or other editorial notice.
Taking further action in accordance with applicable law and the journal's publication ethics policies.
Serious or unresolved disputes may require advice from the relevant rights holder, institution, or competent legal authority.
Copyright and licensing concerns may occasionally affect the integrity or legality of a published article.
Where an issue can be remedied through an appropriate correction, clarification, or replacement of specific material, the journal should consider that option.
Retraction should not be used automatically for every copyright complaint.
Where the concern substantially undermines the article's legitimacy or cannot reasonably be remedied, the journal may consider further action under its Retraction and Correction Policy.
ARISTHA should identify the applicable license consistently in the article landing page, downloadable files, and relevant publication metadata, where technically supported.
The journal should ensure that licensing information presented through OJS corresponds to the policy published on its website.
Where an article contains material excluded from the general license, the exception should be identified clearly.
License information should not imply that the journal has rights to third-party materials beyond those actually granted.
ARISTHA may review its licensing policy in response to developments in open-access publishing, intellectual property law, or institutional requirements.
Any changes should be communicated transparently and should ordinarily apply prospectively.
Changes to journal policy do not automatically revoke permissions already granted under an applicable Creative Commons license.
Previously published works remain subject to their applicable licensing terms and any relevant legal rights.
This Copyright and License Policy should be read together with the journal's:
Editorial Decision Policy.
Publication Ethics.
Allegation of Misconduct.
Generative AI (GenAI) Policy.
Plagiarism Policy.
Retraction and Correction Policy.
Withdrawal of Manuscript Policy.
Archiving Policy.
The relevant policies should be applied consistently when a matter involves overlapping copyright, ethical, or publication concerns.
ARISTHA may periodically review this policy to ensure that its copyright arrangements, open-access practices, and licensing information remain clear, lawful, and consistent with responsible scholarly publishing.
The journal is committed to supporting broad access to research while preserving appropriate recognition of authorship and intellectual property rights.
