ARISTHA: Ar-Risalah Journal of Islamic Tourism and Hospitality

Publisher: Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam (STAI) Ar-Risalah Sumatera Barat, Indonesia

1. Purpose and Scope

ARISTHA: Ar-Risalah Journal of Islamic Tourism and Hospitality supports the responsible dissemination, accessibility, visibility, and preservation of scholarly research.

This Posting Article Policy establishes the conditions under which authors may post, share, deposit, and distribute different versions of manuscripts submitted to, accepted by, or published in ARISTHA.

The policy applies to personal websites, institutional repositories, subject repositories, preprint servers, academic networking platforms, and other legitimate scholarly communication channels.

It is intended to support open access while maintaining transparency about manuscript versions, publication status, authorship, licensing, and research integrity.

2. General Principles

ARISTHA recognizes the importance of sharing research findings to support scholarly discussion, academic collaboration, and the dissemination of knowledge.

The journal applies the following principles:

  1. Authors retain copyright in their original scholarly works.

  2. Responsible sharing of research manuscripts is encouraged.

  3. Different manuscript versions should be clearly identified.

  4. Prior public dissemination should be disclosed when relevant.

  5. Posting a manuscript does not automatically constitute formal journal publication.

  6. The confidentiality of peer review and editorial correspondence must be respected.

  7. Published articles may be shared according to their applicable license.

  8. The final published version should be properly attributed to ARISTHA.

These principles should be applied consistently with the journal's Copyright and License Policy and other editorial policies.

3. Manuscript Versions

For the purposes of this policy, ARISTHA distinguishes among three principal manuscript versions.

3.1. Preprint

A preprint is a scholarly manuscript made publicly available before formal peer review or acceptance by a journal.

A preprint may differ substantially from the final published article because it has not necessarily undergone independent scholarly evaluation.

3.2. Accepted Manuscript

An accepted manuscript is the version that has been approved for publication following editorial assessment and peer review, but has not yet undergone final copyediting, typesetting, or publication formatting.

It may not contain the final journal layout or all production-stage corrections.

3.3. Version of Record

The version of record is the final article officially published by ARISTHA following completion of the journal's editorial and production procedures.

It is the authoritative journal publication version and should be identified as such when shared or cited.

4. Posting of Preprints

ARISTHA permits authors to post preprints on appropriate scholarly platforms, subject to transparency and compliance with applicable ethical and legal obligations.

Authors may share preprints through:

  • Institutional repositories.

  • Recognized preprint servers.

  • Personal academic websites.

  • Relevant disciplinary repositories.

  • Other appropriate scholarly communication platforms.

When submitting a manuscript to ARISTHA, authors should disclose any publicly available preprint or substantially similar earlier version.

Preprint posting does not automatically disqualify a manuscript from editorial consideration.

The editor may assess the extent of prior dissemination, originality, overlap, and any related ethical concerns.

5. Preprints and Double-Anonymous Peer Review

ARISTHA applies a double-anonymous peer review process.

Authors who have posted preprints must still prepare appropriately anonymized manuscript files for peer review.

The existence of a public preprint may make it possible for reviewers to identify the authors. Therefore, complete anonymity cannot always be guaranteed.

Authors should not include unnecessary identifying information in files provided for anonymous review.

Reviewers and editors must continue to comply with the journal's confidentiality, impartiality, and conflict-of-interest requirements.

6. Posting During Editorial Consideration

Authors may maintain previously posted preprints while their manuscripts are under consideration by ARISTHA.

However, authors must not present a manuscript under review as an accepted or officially published article.

Any public description of the manuscript's status must be accurate.

Authors must not publicly disclose confidential reviewer reports, internal editorial correspondence, or other protected information without appropriate authorization.

Posting a preprint does not authorize simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals.

7. Posting of Accepted Manuscripts

Authors may deposit or share accepted manuscripts through appropriate scholarly repositories and academic platforms.

When posting an accepted manuscript, authors should:

  1. Clearly identify the document as an accepted manuscript rather than the final published version.

  2. Acknowledge ARISTHA as the journal that has accepted the work.

  3. Avoid misrepresenting the accepted manuscript as the final typeset article.

  4. Respect applicable third-party copyright and confidentiality requirements.

  5. Update the repository record with a link to the version of record once publication occurs.

No general embargo period is imposed by this policy on author sharing of accepted manuscripts.

Any exceptional restrictions arising from third-party rights, legal requirements, or confidentiality obligations must still be respected.

8. Posting of the Published Version

Following publication, authors may share the final published version of their article in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Permitted activities include:

  • Uploading the article to institutional repositories.

  • Sharing the article on personal academic websites.

  • Distributing the article through scholarly networks.

  • Using the article in teaching and research activities.

  • Sharing links to the article through academic and professional communication channels.

  • Reproducing or adapting licensed material with appropriate attribution.

Users must comply with the license conditions and any separately identified third-party rights.

9. Attribution to the Original Publication

When posting or sharing a published article, authors and other users should provide appropriate attribution.

Where available, the posting should include:

  • The names of the authors.

  • The article title.

  • The journal title: ARISTHA: Ar-Risalah Journal of Islamic Tourism and Hospitality.

  • The year, volume, issue, and page or article information.

  • The official article URL.

  • The DOI, if one has been assigned.

  • A reference to the applicable Creative Commons license.

The absence of a DOI does not prevent legitimate sharing of an article.

Users should not invent or display identifiers that have not been officially assigned.

10. Institutional and Subject Repositories

ARISTHA encourages responsible deposit of scholarly works in institutional and subject repositories.

Repository records should identify the manuscript version accurately and provide sufficient bibliographic information to distinguish preprints, accepted manuscripts, and final published articles.

Authors should ensure that repository deposits comply with applicable intellectual property rights, research ethics requirements, and institutional policies.

Where feasible, repository records should link to the final publication on the journal's official website.

11. Academic Networking Platforms

Authors may share their scholarly work through academic networking platforms, including ResearchGate and other relevant services, subject to applicable platform conditions and publication licenses.

When using such platforms, authors should:

  • Identify the manuscript version correctly.

  • Provide accurate bibliographic information.

  • Link to the official journal publication where available.

  • Respect copyright and licensing requirements.

  • Avoid sharing confidential editorial or peer-review materials.

Academic networking platforms are supplementary dissemination channels and do not replace the journal's official publication record.

12. Personal and Institutional Websites

Authors may post manuscript versions or published articles on personal or institutional websites, subject to the conditions of this policy.

Authors are encouraged to include a statement identifying the manuscript version and its publication status.

For a published article, the posting should acknowledge ARISTHA as the original publication venue and provide a link to the version of record.

13. Updates to Previously Posted Versions

When a manuscript has been revised, accepted, or published, authors are encouraged to update relevant repository or platform records.

A preprint or accepted manuscript should not be silently replaced in a manner that misrepresents the history or status of the work.

Where supported by the platform, authors should identify updated versions and explain material changes.

Once the article is published, authors should provide a reference or link to the final version of record.

14. Corrections and Retractions

If a published article is subsequently corrected, subject to an expression of concern, or retracted, authors should make reasonable efforts to ensure that public copies and repository records accurately reflect the article's current publication status.

Where feasible, repository records should link to the relevant editorial notice.

Authors and other users should not knowingly circulate a retracted article without clearly identifying its retracted status.

Post-publication actions must be handled in accordance with the journal's Retraction and Correction Policy.

15. Third-Party Materials and Copyright Restrictions

The permission to post or share an article does not automatically extend to third-party materials that are excluded from the article's Creative Commons license.

Authors must respect separately applicable rights concerning photographs, maps, illustrations, datasets, instruments, and other incorporated materials.

Where necessary, such materials should be excluded from a deposited version or accompanied by appropriate permission and attribution.

16. Research Data and Supplementary Materials

Authors may share research data, supplementary files, instruments, and related materials when such sharing is ethically, legally, and contractually permissible.

Authors must protect confidential information, personal data, sensitive institutional records, and materials subject to consent restrictions.

The posting of an article does not create an unrestricted right to disclose protected research data.

Data sharing arrangements should be consistent with applicable research ethics approvals and institutional requirements.

17. Generative AI and Posted Content

Authors remain responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of AI-assisted content included in manuscripts or related materials posted online.

Substantive generative AI use should be disclosed in accordance with the journal's Generative AI (GenAI) Policy.

Authors must not use AI-assisted modifications to conceal plagiarism, fabricate research evidence, or misrepresent the status of a manuscript.

18. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for:

  • Accurately identifying manuscript versions.

  • Disclosing relevant prior dissemination.

  • Avoiding simultaneous journal submission.

  • Respecting confidentiality during peer review.

  • Providing appropriate attribution to published work.

  • Complying with applicable copyright and licensing conditions.

  • Updating public records when significant corrections or retractions occur.

  • Protecting confidential and sensitive research information.

The corresponding author should ensure that co-authors are appropriately informed about the public dissemination of manuscript versions.

19. Responsibilities of the Journal

ARISTHA is responsible for communicating its posting and self-archiving policy transparently.

The journal should:

  • Explain permitted sharing of manuscript versions.

  • Maintain consistency with its copyright and licensing arrangements.

  • Evaluate disclosed preprints fairly.

  • Protect the confidentiality of peer review.

  • Provide stable links to published articles where technically feasible.

  • Address credible concerns about misleading publication status or inappropriate dissemination.

  • Support the visibility and accessibility of legitimate scholarly publications.

20. Relationship with Other Editorial Policies

This Posting Article Policy should be read together with the journal's:

  • Editorial Decision Policy.

  • Publication Ethics.

  • Peer Review Process.

  • Generative AI (GenAI) Policy.

  • Plagiarism Policy.

  • Retraction and Correction Policy.

  • Copyright and License Policy.

  • Archiving Policy.

Where a matter involves overlapping rights, ethical concerns, or editorial requirements, the relevant policies should be applied consistently.

21. Policy Review and Updates

ARISTHA may periodically review this policy to reflect developments in open-access publishing, repository practices, scholarly communication technologies, copyright law, and research integrity standards.

The journal remains committed to responsible dissemination, author rights, transparency, and the preservation of scholarly knowledge.
